Bernie has had, and continues to have a variety of experiences as an educator. A few relevant experiences include:
- teacher in the public school system in Saskatchewan including elementary, middle and senior high school in 3 different schools
- university sessional instructor at the University of British Columbia for 6 years.
- co-creator and instructor of “Future Success Programs” – a motivational program for students aged 9-12
- University/College Professor at Malaspina since 1992.
Bernie’s teacher education experiences have included: First Nations education, science education methods, communications skills, principles of teaching, international education working EFL teachers in Thailand, administration as a year coordinator in the education faculty, and faculty supervisor of practica in 21 different school districts in grades K-11. His research interests include attitudinal studies, teacher effectiveness, and program design/implementation.
