NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop

Date: Sunday, January 27, 2019
Time: 8 am - 3:30 pm
Location: Vancouver Island University Gymnasium

This National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) workshop explores the themes of fair play, safety responsibility and communication. The goal is to expose participants to an innovative process that will help them teach Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) like throwing, hopping, jumping, kicking, striking, balancing, catching, and agility to children. The workshop will provide participants with practical guidance, hands on experience, and information about the tools and resources that are available to help them create a positive learning environment. Participants will be encouraged to discuss, interact and problem-solve while participating in physical activities, reflection exercises, and group tasks. Teachers and coaches will learn how to use the presented information and resources effectively in their physical education classes and practices, helping to foster physical literacy. The workshop is being delivered by faculty in the Sport, Health, and Physical Education department at Vancouver Island University.
